The Nobel Prize
Really? All of the sudden we give a shit about the Nobel Prize? It’s not like Obama called them and blackmailed them into giving him the Peace Prize. Dude was awarded it by the panel selected by the Norwegian Parliament. On top of that, all of the nominations are made by only individuals who are deemed eligible. This group includes members of national governments, former recipients, and past and present members of the Nobel committee. It’s not like they hold a facebook poll and just give the award to anyone.
On top of that, unlike the other prizes (scientific, literary, etc) which only recognize completed bodies of work or accomplishments, the Nobel Peace Prize may be given to a person in the process of resolving a conflict or creating peace.
To everyone who’s arguing against Obama receiving the award, cool the fuck down. You never gave a shit before and all of the sudden since you perceive that the man isn’t worthy, you argue? Granted, I’m not up on the peacekeepers of the world, so I don’t know who may be doing a better job at creating peace or resolving conflicts, but fuck.
If only the Nobel Committee read everyone’s facebook and twitter updates speaking out so eloquently and with our extremely educated points of view, maybe then we’d ignite some change in this world! Damn you, Norway! Check your facebook newsfeed more often!
